Light on Guru Disciple Relationship

Many people have argued that a guru is not necessary because a guru is already with in us . This is true , but how many of us claim to hear , understand and follow his instructions? In fact most of us tend to doubt its existence. How many of us can discrimnate between real internal guru and the monkey mind acting out the dictates of our ego.
